Hi everyone! My name is Viktor Krasnobelov. I was born in the early 90s and grew up in Minsk. Unfortunately, I can't reveal many details for security reasons — both my own and those of my friends who stayed in Belarus.
In 2020, like many Belarusians, I took part in protests against the results of the presidential election. Most of my friends are soccer fans, and many of them suffered from the regime's repression: prison terms, criminal cases, torture, and moral pressure.
After the 2020 protests, I thought the danger had passed, but in 2022 I was “remembered” by the security forces. One day I received a call from a friend who had been missing for 10 days. He warned me that the law enforcers had a photo of us standing together with BSE flags at one of the marches. I realized that I had no choice, I had to escape from prison and I packed for the road in 24 hours.
That's how I ended up in the Czech Republic. I applied for political asylum, got the first rejection, appealed, won the court, but then the second rejection followed. The Czech Republic believes that I am not in any danger in Belarus. Now I am fighting for my rights again, thanks to a Belarusian lawyer who took up my case.
Life in the Czech Republic in the status of an asylum seeker is very difficult. Although according to the law I can work, in reality my document is not perceived as an identity card, because of which it is extremely difficult to find a job. During this whole period I have been earning occasional part-time jobs, but there is no stable income, and winter is a particularly difficult time.
Now I need money to pay for a lawyer to help me make an appeal. I have always tried to deal with problems on my own, but this time I need support. If you are able to help, I will be very grateful to you.
Zhyve Belarus!
