Vyacheslav Slizhikov, a Naftan worker, was a participant in the August 2020 protests against falsified presidential elections in Novopolotsk. On August 10, 2020, he was wounded in the leg with a stun grenade. In the fall of the same year, volunteers took him to Latvia for treatment, where he received refugee status because of the risk of arrest.
At the end of December 2022, Vyacheslav died of heart failure in Latvia. He was left with three minor children.
