Fundraising for the family of the deceased Belarusian activist Sergei Dubinin

  • Story

On April 15, in Krakow, under mysterious circumstances, Belarusian activist Sergei Dubinin from Rechitsa died. He was 50 years old.

Sergei was found dead in the house where he lived. According to his neighbour Alexander Almayev, Sergei's body, with signs of violent death, was lying in the shared bathroom. The whole room was covered in blood, and there was a knife on the floor nearby.

«I took the key and went into the house. Everything was covered in blood. Sergei was lying in an unnatural position, already cold…» – says Alexander.

The ambulance confirmed his death. The police have launched an investigation, an inspection is underway. It is not yet known what exactly happened – violent death or suicide. The premises are sealed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sergey left for Poland after the 2020 events. He actively participated in civil life in Belarus, was an independent observer at the elections in Rechitsa, and collected signatures in support of an alternative candidate. In Poland, he worked at a construction site.

Belarusian human rights activist Leonid Sudalenko commented on the incident on his social networks: «In January, Sergei and Alexander were in Vilnius, we met like fellow countrymen, talked, joked, and nothing indicated that Sergei was tired of living…»

We are opening this collection at the request of Leonid Sudalenko to help Sergey’s relatives organize his funeral and support his family during this difficult time. Your help is important.

Thank you for your solidarity!
