Rustam Aizatulin is an orthopedic trauma surgeon unique to Belarus who has put a lot of effort into studying orthopedics in children with neuromuscular and other rare diseases. He consulted children under the care of three charitable projects at once — Genome, RANO, and I RETTkaya.
At the end of 2020, Rustam's contract at the RNPC Trauma Center was not renewed. “One day I realized that I had both the time and the opportunity and the desire to do something good. I wanted something more than just performing standard duties at work,” the doctor answered in an interview with Names about his reason for working with charitable organizations.
The only person who was not afraid to hire Aizatulin was Maxim Ocheretny, the head doctor at Children's Hospital No. 3. But at the end of April he was fired too. Rustam Aizatulin left on the same day as a sign of solidarity with the chief doctor and a friend. Unfortunately, for political reasons I still could not find a job as a doctor in Belarus. I had to leave the country. My wife and two children are still in Belarus.
