I am Mikhailo “Vakula,” a Belarusian combat medic. At the beginning of 2023, I left Belarus to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression. I served in the Kalinouski Regiment on casualty evacuation, and now I am transferring to another unit. Upon transfer, all gear must be handed in, and I have to buy new body armor and essential items.
Experience has shown: if you want something of real quality to protect yourself, you have to buy it yourself. Of course, at the new place of service I will be provided with the basics, but quality things for safety and comfort must be purchased separately. Moreover, during the transition period, while I will be in a suspended state, I won’t receive a salary, and I won’t manage without your help.
Winter at the front is a trial of its own. Frequent colds, kidney inflammations, and other illnesses take people down no worse than bullets. The only salvation is good gear. It is vital to have lightweight folding beds: you really get sick less on them than when lying on cold concrete. But such beds often break or are left behind at positions during urgent evacuation. For our unit, we need 10 reliable camp beds for the winter. If you help cover at least part of this need, we will remember you with gratitude while lying not on the floor in a basement, but in a warm bed.
Thank you to everyone who supports us. Together we will win!
