The story of our family is similar to many stories of Belarusians in 2020-2021. My husband, having worked more than 20 years in public service, was dismissed for political reasons, for his civil position.
We were forced to leave Belarus very hurriedly, without waiting for the dismissal and on the recommendation of good people. Finding ourselves in another country, 2 months later, we got sick with Covid-19. I had bronchopneumonia at home, and my husband ended up in the hospital and spent over 2 weeks on the ventilator. According to the medical report, over 90% of the lungs were damaged. After a month my husband was discharged, but he could not breathe on his own.
With the help of the Belarussian diaspora and concerned people, we bought an oxygen machine to breathe. Until now, my husband needs a lot of medications and rehabilitation procedures.
Doctors at the hospital strongly recommended to go to the mountains for rehabilitation (there are mountains in the country where we are now). Unfortunately, my husband cannot walk much, let alone work, due to his health condition. I, unfortunately, by virtue of my profession — a lawyer. I cannot yet find a job in the country we are in by profession either.
We can't go back home for personal safety reasons.
How much is needed?
3070€ — medications, transportation for rehabilitation, medical examinations and consultations, accommodation, food and all physical procedures, stay in another city (housing, transportation, food) for the tests after the rehabilitation.
