Humor against censorship: Lukasholki channel seeks support

  • Story

Good afternoon!
My name is Anna Fedoronok, I am the creator of the YouTube channel “Lukasholki”.

In March 2020, after Sergei Tihanovsky came to our village, I became a Country for Life volunteer: I collected signatures for Svetlana Tihanovsky, organized election rallies in our district, and was an independent observer at the elections. She was arrested three times and served administrative arrests.

In January 2021, when a criminal case was brought against me, I had to leave Belarus. Human rights activists helped me to get out to Kiev and then to Poland.

In Warsaw, I founded a shelter for Belarusian refugees and helped newcomers to adapt. I also worked for 2 years on the NEXTA channel. Last December I launched my YouTube channel “Lukaszolki”, which has become an important part of our struggle for freedom.

Our channel tells about the events in Belarus with humor and satire, trying to appeal to the audience of 50+. We speak in simple language to help these people understand what is going on around them. Despite the fact that our channel is recognized as extremist and we have only 3560 subscribers, each issue collects up to 60 thousand views, most of which are from Belarus.

We believe that with the help of humor we can reach people who would otherwise stay away from social events. Judging by the statistics, we succeed.

But like many independent projects, we face difficulties. Our channel is based on enthusiasm: we shoot on phones, we don't have quality sound and light. We are trying hard, but we need help to continue and develop our project.

What we need:
1. Equipment for filming and editing: camera, microphones, light, sound.
2. Support for our team: we would also like to support people who help us with editing, covers and promotion.

If you can support us, it will allow us to make Lukasholki more professional and continue our mission to educate Belarusians and fight for democratic change.

Thank you for your attention! See you on YouTube.
