Artist Yaroslav Kirvel, like many Belarusians, was deeply shocked by the news about the death of political prisoner Ales Pushkin. He came up with a charitable action to show support to the family of the deceased.
- It's hard to convey how I felt when I learned the terrible news about Ales Pushkin, — says Yaroslav Kirvel. — I was not close to him, but I visited his exhibitions and creative evenings with his participation. On the day of his death, people told me their stories and memories of this artist, and I had never seen their faces and eyes so gloomy before. It was a complete shock.
Famous Belarusian artist Ales Pushkin died on July 11 in the intensive care unit of the city hospital under unclear circumstances. Ales Pushkin was 57 years old, he had a wife and two children.
- A few days after this news, the Tutaka festival was held, where Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, whom I had painted before, was also present. And such an opportunity presented itself again, she even left an autograph on her new portrait. That's how I got the idea to help the artist's family.
August 11 is exactly one month since the death of Ales Pushkin.
