Hello!
I am from Minsk, but six months ago I was forced to move to Lithuania. I served 2 years in prison for commenting on the authorities, and in order to avoid re-arrest, I left.
While I was in jail, my elderly mother had a heart attack from worrying about me. Now the police periodically come to her house in Belarus, looking for me, although they know perfectly well where I am. I don't want to draw unnecessary attention to myself with my collection, so as not to subject her to additional interrogations and checks.
In 2020, I was very hopeful for change in the country and actively participated in peaceful protests and left comments on social networks. Two years later, police officers came to my workplace when everything seemed to be in the past. They confiscated my phone, interrogated me, and searched my apartment.
Two months later, a court took place, which sentenced me to 2 years of restricted freedom without referral to an IUOT*. I had not even spent a year on “home chemistry”, as I was recorded three violations. The conditions are such that you cannot not violate. The inspections came several times a day, at night and on holidays. A new court hearing replaced my home chemistry regime with imprisonment in the colony. The time in the colony has undermined my health and I cannot work fully because of it now. The only thing that will help me is an operation, which is waiting for me in the near future. After it I will need rehabilitation for several months and I need your help very much.
I ask you to support me financially for 2 months of rehabilitation after surgery, during which I will not be able to earn money and will have nothing to live on.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for your help and support!
*Restriction of liberty without referral to an IRE or “home chemistry ” is a type of punishment where the inmate remains free, but with restrictions. The inmate has a schedule for both work and personal activities, including going to the store or throwing out the trash. The police can come every day and at any time to check on them.
How much is needed?
€2200
€1100 — housing costs for 2 months after the operation
€600 — groceries for 2 months
€500 — medicines, rehabilitation and hygiene products
