I, Alexander Grechishnikov, wanted to run for president to overturn Lukashenko's deceitful system of government, change the lives of the citizens of Belarus, and lead the country away from the Soviet way of life. On a regular basis he took an active part in protest actions and procedures of collecting signatures for alternative candidates for the post of the president of the Republic of Belarus. I was arrested at a rally in Kamaranka by riot police.
I was kept in custody for 16 days. For three days I was kept in a punishment cell in inhuman conditions. I was beaten during detention and then I started having problems with my backbone. During my detention, the court imposed an additional 15 days on me via Skype. As a result 8 administrative reports were made on me under Article 23.34. Then I was prosecuted under Article 209.4. Operatives took me away from Okrestino to search my parents' and my family's apartments. During the search I managed to escape and leave Belarus.
Now together with my family of five we are waiting for a decision on refugee status. At the moment we were not allowed to work, and we did not have money for life and medicine. At the same time I was brought as a witness in the case of Statkevich, Tikhanovsky, and others. I did not show up for the interrogations. Naturally, at the first interrogation I would become a defendant.
