Collection for repatriation of the body of deceased activist Dmytro Gorelko

  • Story

Good afternoon!
This is the BYSOL training camp team.

We are opening this training camp to transport the body of our compatriot, Dmitry Gorelko, who died in Warsaw, to his home country. After all the necessary procedures are completed, Dzmitry's body will be delivered to his parents in Gomel.

Dzmitry was an activist from Gomel who took part in peaceful protests in 2020. He could often be seen in the front rows with the national flag. The man was tried on administrative articles and, fearing persecution, left for Poland. The last months Dmitry worked as a security guard in one of the hypermarkets.

On July 25, 2024, Dmitry died at his workplace. He was 42 years old. According to the Warsaw police, the death was non-violent. An autopsy is currently underway, but the preliminary cause of death is a blood clot that broke off.

Unfortunately, the repatriation process is financially expensive. Therefore, we are seeking your support to cover all expenses, including paperwork, transportation of the body and funeral arrangements.

The collection is opened at the request of Valery Slepukhin, an activist of the Belarusian diaspora in Warsaw.

We thank you for your support and concern.

With respect,
BYSOL collection team.
