My name is Sergei [name has been changed for security reasons, BYSOL Foundation has all supporting documents]. I am a Belarusian who has worked for 20 years for the good of our country.
In 2020, I was detained at a rally. After that, I served 24 hours under People's Article 23.34 (violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events). A year later, they came to me again.
First they drew up an administrative report, and then, according to the Belarusian legislation they tortured me to find out my phone password. They broke 2 ribs, threw me in Akrestsin for 30 days, so that the beatings would wear off, and then opened a criminal case. After that I was transferred to pre-trial detention center 1 on Volodarskogo Street, and then given a term in a general regime colony.
The colony treats those convicted on political articles with special cruelty. I was given extraordinary assignments, placed in a SHIZO, deprived of parcels and turned other convicts against me.
Then I was sent to a PKT (a cell with a stricter detention regime), where I learned firsthand what hunger, cold, lack of medical care and even daylight were like.
At the same time, my wife was not left alone — she was constantly summoned for interrogation, and her property was seized .
After my release, I returned home to my wife and my children. But the police still do not leave us alone. And we need your help to leave the country and start a new life.
We need money for tickets and accommodation, for food and medicine. No one can give me back the time they took away from me when I was in the colony. No one will give me back my health and nerves. But we will still continue to fight, as we did in 2020.
