Supporting a senior citizen who was fined for a candle

  • Story

I participated in almost all Sunday rallies, many Saturday women's marches, and when possible (when Monday was a day off) I went to pensioners' marches.
In the summer of 2021 the police came for the sheets on the window, they wanted to detain me for an administrative violation. But I managed to get away from them for a while, and now the deadline for that violation has expired.

On November 12, 2021 I put a candle on the window in memory of the murdered Roman Bandarenka. And in the morning of December 24 the police came to me and detained me, taking me to the Pervomaisky district police station. There, after two hours of sitting in the corridor, I felt sick and asked to call an ambulance. I had a hypertensive crisis. The ambulance took me away, and the police officer accompanied me and waited for the attack to be relieved and released.

After 15-30 they took me straight to court, where they gave me the detention report to read and acquainted me with my rights. In court I said that the candles were church and I put them in memory of my husband, because he died September 29, 2021 of covid. “Yes, there was a candle, but I don't know about the action. Now my contract at work is not renewed and my pension is 576 rubles. Out of this money it is difficult to pay the fine 2030 rbl.
