We are activists in a backyard initiative.
We have always conducted our activities in such a way that they do not entail criminal responsibility. However, the apparent absence of corpus delicti in our actions didn't stop the punishers from putting us in jail and launching a criminal case against us. There were two of us. We don't give our names for security reasons. The investigator had originally planned to transfer the case against us to the category of administrative, but on the orders of his superiors he brought it to court and, moreover, “decorated” it with aggravating circumstances.
The court sentenced each of us to a fine of 150 basic units. The appeal, despite the obvious absence of corpus delicti, the use of materials as evidence that could not have been admitted by the court as such, and other violations and inconsistencies, did not help. The higher court upheld the verdict.
One of us is a single father and the other is a mother of two young children. But just convicting us and giving us a fine wasn't enough for the punishers. By the way, one of the officers of the investigative committee said that our punishment would not be limited to a single criminal case. That's why we also lost our jobs and had to face a tax audit.
In these circumstances, our families need support.
