My name is Chernyi. I am a volunteer fighter of the Foreign Legion. Since 2022, I have been fighting for Ukraine — for the freedom I have believed in since childhood.
I grew up in Belarus. In 1995, after the referendum that removed our national symbols, my Belarusian language teacher hung a white-red-white flag in the classroom. Then I realized: this is not just the color of the fabric. This is a choice. This is a fight. Since then, I have been participating in it: I went to the March of Freedom, Dzyady, Chernobyl Path — I did everything so that the memory of our history and independence lives on.
When Russia started a full-scale war, I could not stand aside. I went to the front. Bakhmut, Kharkov, channel, airplane: behind each of these words are days and nights, sweat and blood, comrades in arms and losses.
In the summer of 2024, I was seriously wounded. I completed a course of treatment and returned to duty. But in the fall, I was injured again – and this time for a long time. The doctors are helping, but there are things that I have to pay for myself: medications, rehabilitation, housing. Now I am being taken off the payroll. This means that the payments will only be 10-12 dollars a month. And that’s it.
I am not asking for anything extra. Just support to get back on my feet. I want to recover and be back where people like me are needed now. I am not going to give up.
Help me not stop on this path.
