Support a Volunteer Returning to the Frontline to Upgrade and Complete His Gear

  • Story

A Belarusian volunteer has defended Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. After a break, he has decided to return to the front as a UAV (drone) operator. To carry out his missions safely and effectively, he needs to upgrade and complete his equipment.

My name is David (name changed for security reasons).

I was born and raised in Belarus. In 2020, when the protests began, I could not stand aside. For me, it has always been important not only to speak about freedom, but to be ready to take responsibility for it. After those events, I was forced to leave for the EU.

In 2022, I decided to volunteer go and defend Ukraine. In 2022–2023, I participated in combat operations. During that time, I witnessed too much — loss, pain, exhaustion — but also the incredible strength of people who continue to fight.

After returning to the EU following my service, I tried to start life again from scratch. I worked, adapted, and lived an ordinary civilian life. I thought long and hard about everything — safety, the future, opportunities.

But there are things you cannot run from.

Throughout this time, I stayed in touch with my brothers-in-arms. Now I have a clear agreement with a unit. There is already a position designated for me, tasks are defined, and timelines are set.

Today, I want to return not just as a soldier, but as a UAV and drone operator. Modern warfare is about technology. One trained operator can save dozens of lives. Drones provide reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and increased safety for infantry units.

However, to perform my duties effectively and safely, I need to update and complete my personal gear.
