Hello and thank you for visiting our page!
The Voices Across Borders is a global solidarity movement in support of Belarus. This movement started in October 2024 and will end on 18th December which is the International Migrants' Day. We are planning to end this year's initiative with the event in Warsaw which will reflect on individual efforts of Belarusians across the globe. We are declaring the 18th December as a main fundraising effort for this year's movement.
After the 2020 elections, our country is facing increased repression, threats to cultural identity and pressure on sovereignty. To counter this, we have planned a series of offline and online events around the world. Our goal is to draw the attention of the international community and support persecuted Belarusians.
What are we doing?
With our support, Belarusian diasporas around the world have united and will hold national dating evenings “Get to know Belarus!”. Guests will be ordinary foreigners who will be told about our country, its beauty, culture, talented people, as well as about the horror, political and humanitarian crisis after 2020. Thus, our diasporas will become the voices of Belarusian men and women living inside the country and will try to break the associative brand Belarus=Lukashenko.
There will also be online events, concerts, performances and lectures in different contexts during the relay. Many Belarusians and Belarusians abroad are connected with personal projects (concert, race, tasting, movie screening, etc.). The calendar of events on our website is constantly updated. During all events we raise funds to help Belarusians affected by the regime.
Why does it matter?
Families spend an average of €2000 per year per political prisoner. Rehabilitation of a released person costs from €6000 in Europe and from €2000 in Belarus. Today there are about 1500 recognized political prisoners in Belarusian prisons, and the same number of people have been recently released. Thousands more have suffered for their views and need help.
All funds raised will go to support Belarusian political prisoners and their families who find themselves in a crisis situation.
How can you help?
Your donation can change someone's life:
- 10 euros can buy necessary medicines for one person,
- 15 euros — will provide the child of a political prisoner with necessary stationery,
- 20 euros will provide the family of a political prisoner with food for one or two days,
- 50 euros will help to buy warm clothes for a political refugee in difficult conditions,
- 250 euros — will provide legal support for one political prisoner,
- 1000 euros will help in rehabilitation of a released person.
