Some of these children have had a parent behind bars for years. Some live under constant pressure and fear because both parents are being targeted. Others have been separated from a parent by a state border. And all of this is happening during the most crucial period of their lives – when a sense of safety, trust, and love is being formed.
This campaign is not just a tradition. It’s a way to show a child something essential: they are not alone. They are needed. They are cared for. Their future matters. And that feeling will stay with them for life. So that children don’t have to suffer as much simply because their parent is a person of conviction – just like all of us.
The BYSOL Foundation is raising funds to help the children of political prisoners start kindergarten or school with the basics they need: clothes, shoes, school supplies, backpacks. These are simple things, but without them, it’s hard to feel equal to others.
Why is this important? Because growing up without a parent is already a serious challenge. Because attention from society can provide support where there is no stability or sense of safety. Every donation is direct help to a specific child – and at the same time, a sign of solidarity.

Each child under the age of 16 will receive €100.
The total fundraising amount includes bank and payment system fees.
Applications for assistance will be accepted through August 17.
Who can apply for this support?
– Families of political prisoners with children, where one or both parents have been incarcerated for at least three months (including those serving confinement in an open correctional facility, with or without assignment);
– Former political prisoners with children;
– Parents serving home confinement who are either disabled, retired, or raising children under the age of three.
