On April 8, Yulia Mikhailova was jailed for 25 days. This is the sixth time she appeared to be detained. And it is all because of her indifference both to the situation in Belarus and to other people, as her past peaceful life has vividly reminded us.
She took care of (took into her home) two younger grandchildren (2,5 and 4 years old) of the woman who was taking care of her granddaughter dying of cancer in the children's hospice and who is raising three grandchildren alone. Julia took care of other people's children for a year and a half.
This is a person with a big heart and love — full of courage and bravery. So she, as part of a group of young women with white-red-white umbrellas, strolled through Minsk — a strong symbol of protest and a sign that we have not given up. Julia was detained by the KGB.
We are opening a personal fundraising to support Yulia Mikhailova. A woman from a large family who is now paying off a loan to build a house for the whole family after their house burned down in 2015. The family will have a hard time now, because her ailing 56-year-old mother and brother have been detained too, in order to put pressure on Yulia.
How much money is needed?
2000 euros (6272 Belarusian roubles). This is the sum needed to cover the expenses for lawyers, parcels, groceries and to pay the credit for the house. The funds will be used to provide the family with everything they need.
