Support for Ukrainians – Victims of the Belarusian Regime

  • Story

Hello! This is the BYSOL fundraising team.

In November 2025, a group of Ukrainian citizens was released after being held in Belarus on political charges. They were extracted from the country and handed over to the Ukrainian side.

The youngest of the released is only 18 years old. The oldest is over 50. Many were released with compromised health and no understanding of how to restart their lives. We want to share in detail two stories: those of Maria Misyuk and Viachaslau Borody.

Maria was accused under an article on “terrorism.” She was only 16 when she was put on trial. TV reports claimed she had been “recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services” and, under their influence, created a gang – a teenage “anarchist cell.” Maria was tried, but human rights defenders had no information about her sentence or place of detention.

After her release, a video with Maria was published by Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. She said she had no idea where she was being taken. She thought it was for execution: “I thought they were taking me to be shot.”

Also among the released was Viachaslau Borody, a father of three. He was arrested on 1 September 2023 and sentenced to 10 years in a correctional facility. He was brought to court in shackles.

Today, these people are free. But that doesn’t mean everything is behind them.
Some urgently need treatment – among the released are people with cancer. Others need rehabilitation. Some need support to get through the adaptation phase: housing, medicine, psychological help.

We are launching a fundraiser for €12,000 to support those who are struggling the most right now.

Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for helping.
With respect, the BYSOL fundraising team.
