My name is Siarhei Petrukhin.
I am a blogger from Brest, author of the YouTube channels “People's Reporter” and “Youtube-deputies”.
2 months before the elections, on June 16, 2020, I was detained and placed in a temporary detention center. Later, in connection with the events in Hrodna, when Siarhei Tikhanouski was detained, I was charged under Article 342 (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus — organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order). There was a trial. Me and my fellow blogger Aliaksandr Kabanau were sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. I was recognized as a political prisoner and released in December 2022.
After my release, I lived in Belarus. However, I saw that the clouds were gathering, and because of the fear of being arrested again and receiving a sentence, I decided to leave. Therefore, on February 10, 2024, I left the country with the help of the BYSOL evacuation team.
Now I am in need of support for the first time. I need to rent an apartment, pay for basic needs and buy a simple laptop for work.
