Support for Regina Lavor, who is forced to leave Belarus because of the threat

  • Story

I, Lavor Regina, was sentenced under Article 369 to two years of home chemistry.

I am a culturologist and museologist, the founder and first director of Ivievsk Museum of National Cultures.

All my honest life I have been engaged in revival of Belarusan language, culture, traditions and crafts. I took part in all marches and meetings in the city.
For what I was repeatedly detained by both the local police and riot police. I was placed in a detention center and repeatedly tried in administrative cases.

In December 2020 they came to search me and it became clear that there was a criminal case against me. Between December 2020 and the trial I was under bail. During this time I wrote appeals and complaints to the ROVD, the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The trial lasted two months.

On September 17, 2021 I was sentenced to 2 years of restriction of freedom without being sent to a PSI. Already from the first days of my registration the inspection started pressurizing me.

I was forbidden to do anything: go to church, use the toilet outside, see my mother (she is 86) and other relatives.Nobody hired me, so I opened a craft business. But in fact a could not work. I was not allowed to go shopping for materials for the activity, I couldn't sell my products, as I couldn't leave the house on Saturdays and Sundays at all.

After a month I got my first offense, two weeks later I got my second offense. And ten days in solitary confinement. I declared a hunger strike against the conditions of detention. After a few months I got my third violation and a punishment cell again.

After that I managed to hold out for ten months. Heavy pressure and provocation started at the end of January. They came to check on me five or six times a day. Mostly at night. They even took me for a medical examination for alcohol twice at night.61 checks were conducted in March.

On April 12, I was taken away from home in handcuffs, allegedly for violating the regime, because I did not open the door for an officer during the inspection. I was kept in a punishment cell from April 12 to 22.

They made me undress naked on video camera, kept me in solitary confinement without heating, no mattress, blanket or underwear, no walks, no parcels, four times a day they took me out for searches in handcuffs and twice a night they made me get up from my bunk and call my name and article.

I was put on the list of extremists. On April 22, I got out of the detention center and immediately left Belarus. Now I have to ask for financial help, because I was running with only one backpack.

I need help for housing and medical rehabilitation.
