My name is Daniel Tashtimirov and I became a refugee at the age of 19. I always actively participated in rallies and spoke out against Lukashenko's government. I was detained for the first time in 2020, after which I was beaten and humiliated.
After I was detained I was expelled from the college when I had six months left to study. The police then kidnapped my father, beat him, and threatened to take his children. This event finally influenced our decision to leave the country.
I had always dreamt of becoming a popular musician, but I realize that it takes a lot of work. Now I am in Poland and live in a refugee camp. We are paid 700 zlotys per month, which is not enough to live on. Soon I will get a work permit and I need money to rent a place to live and buy food for a few months on my own.
