Aid to the Family of Political Prisoner Vladimir Malakhovsky, a patient with a cancer

  • Story

On September 13, 2020 my husband Vladimir was at a rally in his native Vitebsk. He was grabbed by police officers (5 people), broke a finger on his left hand, threw him into a car, where they continued beating him. When he said about the broken finger, they twisted the same finger to the other side! Vova was unconscious from the pain…
Despite the medical documents presented to the court (he has cancer), he himself was accused of “violence against police officers” and sentenced to 3.5 years in jail and compensation. His sentence was not commuted by his cancer diagnosis (he underwent four courses of chemotherapy), nor by his two dependent underage children (aged 11 and 13). Moreover: in May the disability group was taken away from him and he was deprived of his pension of 250 rubles. And they sent him to the penal colony “Wolves' Lairs” in Brest oblast.
We have a very good and friendly family, my father has always been a support and a big help in everything. Our daughter Albina is fond of drawing, and our son Edward is engaged in acrobatics. Thanks to my dad's support my son now takes first places in competitions!
Now we really need help: I work and receive 370r., and I can't afford to raise my children, or visit my husband in prison, or send him food and medicine parcels.

How much is needed?

2,200 euros:
1,080 euros for court costs and compensation
320 euros — preparation of the children for the new school year (school supplies, clothes, shoes)
800 euros — trips to my husband, food parcels, clothes and medicines for him, approximately for the next six months.
