Support for the Lakhtadyr family that left Belarus after political pressure

  • Story

We fled Belarus because my children were under political pressure. My eldest son left on January 20, 2021. He worked under the security forces in a music orchestra. He was expelled from the University of Culture in Minsk. Then they started pressuring me and my middle son. In the end, I had to quit school, where I was pressured through humiliation, insults, and slander that I was an “alcoholic.”

My middle son was studying at the music college in Molodechno. He was summoned for interrogation. Two head teachers, his instrument teacher and the director were present. The son ran out the back door.

The daughter had been interested since the beginning of the school year. In 2018, she was vacationing in Poland. She had a visa on her passport. The college didn't like it. They started pushing. Then they started calling me every other day from the criminal investigation department. The last straw was a phone call to my son from the military enlistment office. He was threatened that he would have to serve time for his brother and himself.

On February 5th we were in Poland. We drove through Ukraine. Now, being in another country, we need help to rent a house and buy basic necessities. We would be grateful to everyone who will give us a helping hand during this difficult time.

How much is needed?
