My name is Ilya Lobatsevich, I am a former political prisoner who took an active part in the protest movement. Once when I was at a protest together with my mother I stood up for her, after which I was detained. This happened during the police attack on a peaceful march in Novopolotsk, where I defended my mother from an OMON officer and got a serious head injury.
Then a trial followed, where I was tried on the charge of “violent acts against a policeman”. For a year and a half I was in custody. During this period, after receiving a head injury — I also began to form clots in my leg, as I was severely beaten in prison.
When I was released I decided to leave the country. I am in Poland now where I am getting treatment. However, I have not cured all my injuries yet and I can't work. I will be very grateful to everyone who will help me during my treatment.
