Georgy is a blind fourth-year student at the European Humanities University (EHU). Due to the loss of his grant, he may lose the opportunity to continue his studies. This fundraiser is a chance for Georgy to finish his education and receive his diploma.
Good afternoon! My name is Yevgeny. I am a Christian, a political refugee, and the father of five children. A year ago, I already ran a fundraiser on BYSOL, and back then you saved the eyesight of my daughter Kassia. Because of a rare mutation of the PAX6 gene, she could have become completely blind. But thanks to your help, we were able to get her surgery and preserve her vision. Thank you!
Unfortunately, my son Georgy was less fortunate. He is completely blind. Despite this, he is completing his fourth year at EHU, and I am very proud of him. But trouble has happened. And once again, I am asking you for help.
Georgy’s opportunity to study at EHU was provided by a scholarship he received from the EuroBelarus Foundation. In the summer of 2025, he received an email informing him that he needed to submit documents once again to participate in the program. Unfortunately, this email ended up in the “spam” folder, and Georgy was unable to notice it in time, because for a blind person this is not an easy task. And when the email was found, it was already too late. The Foundation had closed the application submission.
We corresponded with representatives of the Foundation, and they replied that they would accept Georgy’s application in the next semester. But for this one, we have to somehow pay ourselves.
We are an ordinary large family, with enough only for the bare necessities. And in emigration, every euro counts. Georgy currently receives a social scholarship from the university, but it is not enough to cover the cost of tuition. And we cannot cope on our own.
I sincerely ask you to treat our situation with understanding. For my son, this is the final pre-diploma semester, and the opportunity to continue his studies is of decisive importance. And I would very much like my son to finish his studies and, having received a diploma, be able to feel more confident in society.
