Galina Smirnova, leader of the Bobruisk REP trade union, was detained on March 24 in the evening along with her husband. The husband was released on the same day, but Halina is kept in custody in accordance with article 108 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (“Apprehension on direct suspicion of a crime”). It is not known what crime she is suspected of.
Over the past year Halina's health deteriorated and for a long time doctors could not determine the cause, but on the eve of the incident Halina was taken to a specialist. He did not let her out of his office and immediately hospitalized her for examinations. During the examination an urgent spinal surgery was performed, after which a long recovery is expected.
Galina is scheduled to be in Minsk for an operation on April 13th, but what has happened may prevent this from happening. We urgently need your help to pay the lawyer. Galina's stay in the TDF puts her life and health in great danger.
