Financial assistance to a former political prisoner

  • Story

My name is Oleg [name changed for security reasons, BYSOL Foundation has all identification documents].

I was prosecuted under the “people's” criminal article 342 (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them) and sentenced to two years of restricted freedom without referral to a correctional institution — “chemistry”.

I am under constant checks and pressure. I am trying to find a job, but it is very difficult for a “political” person in Belarus, because state institutions do not hire me, and private companies are afraid to contact me just in case. That's why I'm thinking about leaving the country.

But first I need to close the debts that appeared while the trial was going on and I was sitting on Okrestina. It's awkward to ask, I've never done it, but it's really hard right now.

I need to pay off a few months' rent debt.

Also the state has billed me for maintenance on Okrestina.

Thank you to all those who care!

How much is needed?

Rent — €1100
Maintenance on Okrestina — €250
