Belarusian volunteer needs protection: fundraising for helmet and armor plates

  • Story

My call sign is Raccoon, I am a Belarusian, a volunteer.

In 2020, I took part in protests against the dictatorship in Belarus. Due to the threat of persecution, I had to leave my home country. In the spring of 2021, I moved to the UK on a work visa. But when Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine began, I realized that I could not stay on the sidelines.

In May 2022, I applied to the mobilization center in Warsaw and went to Ukraine.

I completed training in the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, then served in the Volat battalion as part of a sniper group.

On October 4, 2022, during the assault on Russian positions in the Zaporizhia region, I was seriously wounded: a piece of shrapnel pierced my thigh. After long treatment and rehabilitation, I regained my strength and became a junior instructor at the Regiment's training center. However, my desire to get back into a combat unit did not fade. After training and an interview, I was accepted into an elite unit – a special group of Grec Company Group, and then into the 1st squadron of the Foreign Legion.

Now I continue to carry out combat missions in one of the hottest sections of the front in the Zaporizhia region. Recently, during the shelling of our unit, as a result of a hit from an FPV drone, my equipment (armor plates, helmet, headphones, RPS) was destroyed. It was this equipment that saved my life. Unfortunately, not all of my brothers-in-arms were lucky: our friend and Hero of Ukraine with the call sign «KRUK» died in that battle.

Now I urgently need to restore the equipment in order to remain in the ranks and continue to defend Ukraine.

I will be immensely grateful for any help.
