The trial of Eduard Babariko will begin on May 22



Eduard Babariko, son of former chairman of Belgazprombank and ex-presidential candidate Viktor Babariko, will be tried in Minsk regional court, “Sputnik. 

"The first court session is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on May 22. The case will be heard by Minsk regional court at an off-site session in the building of Minsk district court," said Minsk Regional Court.

Eduard was detained in the summer of 2020 and charged under several articles for alleged tax evasion, money laundering, aiding in the organization of mass riots and incitement of racial, national, religious or other social hatred or discord. 

Bear in mind that Eduard's father Victor Babariko was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony for "taking bribes and laundering of illegally obtained money. He did not plead guilty, in court he said that he considered the criminal prosecution against him politically motivated.
